Metal spraying is a process whereby metal coatings are sprayed onto materials in order to change their properties. These changes include hardness, anti-corrosion and so much more. Wire arc spraying
Wire arc spaying is a highly economical metal spraying technique. This technique makes use of two conductive wires that meet in the metal spraying equipment. Once these wires meet, they create an arc which in turn creates molten material. Compressed air is then used to push the molten material out of the equipment and onto the material that is being coated. This creates a strong mechanical bond over the surface of the material. The thickness of this coating varies between .5 millimetres and 4 millimetres.
Gas flame spraying
The metal spraying process known as gas flame spraying uses heat created from gas and oxygen in order to melt the coating material. This is then sprayed onto a material to create a protective coating. This technique provides a wide range of materials, such as metal and ceramics, with high-quality coatings that provide war resistance and impact resistance.
High velocity oxy-fuel coating spraying (HVOF)
High velocity oxy-fuel coating (HVOF) is a metal spraying technique that produces a dense coating. This technique sprays molten or semi-molten material on the prepared surface of another material by means of a high-velocity gas stream. These coatings extend the lifespan of the materials significantly as they improve the hardness of the material while providing wear resistance and protection against corrosion.
